Photos are circulating on Facebook and Ipernity of an Expo Line test train reaching the City of Santa Monica this morning.

It is the first time in many, many years that trains have passed down these tracks. Passenger trains last used the Exposition Line in the 1950s, though freight rail continued into the 1980s. Metro is expecting to open Phase 2 of the Expo Line in early 2016.

A test train, being towed under the power of a rail truck, made it under the 405, across Sawtelle, and all the way to Stewart Street, to just shy of the 26th Street/Bergamot Station.
